OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

The last two #karma classes we #meditated on or pondered on understanding #self-realization. This week overcoming obstacles finding #contentment.

To overcome pride, be humble

To overcome hate, be loving

To overcome selfishness, be generous

To overcome excitement, be calm

To overcome ignorance, use knowledge.

To overcome evil, be good

To overcome restlessness, meditate

Karma defines contentment as being happy with what you have. It means to end all cravings and to find peace within your life. Not an easy task – takes work – that’s karma!

Yoga presents us with nine obstacles to overcome; physical illness, apathy and boredom, doubting self-worth, being distracted and careless, feeling heavy and burnt-out, having desires and cravings, doubting once progress, getting caught in the illusion of life and an inability to maintain and achievement continual yoga practice.

Karma teaches us that all of this falls into the four patterns of karma that block our progress. Blocking knowledge, blocking feelings, blocking vitality and blocking free will. It takes work to identify these and then to unblock them – that’s karma; let’s get to work.

END: Yoga presents us with nine obstacles to overcome; physical illness, apathy and boredom, doubting self-worth, being distracted and careless, feeling heavy and burnt-out, having desires and cravings, doubting once’s progress, getting caught in the illusion of life and an inability to maintain and achievement through continual yoga practice.

So, avoid burnout and stay vital; focus on health body mind and soul. Believe in your self-worth you are unique, seek to always learn and never be bored or distracted by life. Be happy with what you have and then reach out for more. Remember life is real; it is your perception that is the illusion, and continue to practice karma yoga for you have made such progress however, you must continue to practice and when you think you have achieved success practice some more. That’s karma – it takes continual work.

EGO: flip your hands up and rest them on your knees. Extend out the index finger – the symbol of the ego. Being bored, doubting self, being careless, feeling burnt-out, craving, doubting progress, living in an illusion and inability to maintain achievements are symbols of the egos fight to maintain its importance. Do not seek to extinguish the ego. It is for your self-preservation and self-identity. Simply seek to temper it by drawing your index finger in and placing your thumb on top which is the symbol of our soul; and remember for the soul’s perspective:

To overcome pride, be humble

To overcome hate, be loving

To overcome selfishness, be generous

To overcome excitement, be calm

To overcome ignorance, use knowledge.

 To overcome evil, be good

To overcome restlessness, meditate

Finding peace in meditation you shall find all things that you crave

May you go with health, happiness and peace

#Meditation 2 - Self- Realization #Karma

To acquire self-realization on earth requires a dual existence. We must consciously perform our earthly duties while being immerse in soulful pursuit. Human life is full of sorrow and conflict until we learn to work our karma.

Karma teaches us that we are here on earth to perform our earthly work always mindful of the process of soulful pursuit. Everything that happens in your life is about the work of self-realization. We take on the body and the mind of a human and thus must do the earthly work of pursuing shelter, food, procreation and the means to survive. When we balance this with soulful work, we achieve self-realization and the answers to the question: why am I here, and what is this all about?

A self-realized person: Finds humor in a given situations. They get enjoyment and satisfaction out of the present moment They Understand what they need in order to gain a sense of purpose and meaning.

The process of self-realization is different for everyone. It is best described as being a sum of the parts rather than an isolated trait. For example, a person may have a creative soul and still not be fully self-realized. Self-realization is more about how we grow and expand our consciousness rather than about acquiring ideals such as perfection, success, or happiness.

It takes work – that’s karma Let’s get started

END

In general, self-realized people:

·      Accept themselves and others

·      Have a well-developed sense of creativity

·      Maintain deep and meaningful relationships

·      Can exist independently

·      Have a sense of humor, particularly an ability to find humor in their own mistakes

·      Accurately perceive reality, both as it pertains to the self and others

·      Have a sense of purpose and work towards realizing this

·      Experience frequent moments of profound happiness and joy

·      Show empathy and compassion for others

·      Appreciate the goodness of life.

Because self-realization is a duality between performing earthly duties and seeking soulful growth it can be a challenge. Working your karma, you begin to integrate your earthly work with your soulful work and in this you begin to walk the pathway of self-realization. But this takes work for it requires balancing the two while staying open and flexible and having the strength to believe in yourself.

Becoming self-realized is not always a straightforward process, and it can take lifetimes to achieve.  Many are good at acquiring earthly things through their earthly work, but few are good at achieving self-realization; it takes work – that’s karma.

EGO; the path of self-realization may be confusing to the ego. The ego sees the world as one of self-preservation and in this gets caught in the work of the world believing this to be the purpose of our lives. The main goal of the ego is to survive. Its need to belong, to get recognized and feel self-importance which often times overshadows the other side of our work – namely realization of the true self which has taken on this earthly presence to work our karma. Pull your finger in and place your thumb on top. See your talents, for we all have them. Work diligently to take advantage of them through conscious self-realization while consciously realizing your limitations.

Understanding comes to those who realize their true self. Realization of their true self comes to those who have gained understanding.

Namaste ~ may you go with health, happiness and peace

#Understanding – it’s good #karma

Week 1 #Understanding – it’s good #karma

Understanding – what does it mean to understand something?
Understanding is a relation between the knower and an object of understanding. In karma you are the knower presented with objects both physical and metaphysical for the sole purpose of understanding how what is presented to your life helps you to work your karma so your life works for you. It means to become the witnessing conscious to life. For example: anger is a great passion. We can all recognize it in ourselves and in others, but do we really understand it? it is simply a passion that if we let it control us either from the inside or out, we lose our true self which is called the pursusa – the witness who is able to observe life from a nonjudgmental place and to see it for what it really is – an opportunity to work our karma. It is energy that has taken on a passion. It is neither good nor bad but simply energy with a force. Anger can be used to right a wrong, or it can be an uncontrollable emotion. It is up to us to observe and understand.

Understanding means to stand under where we stand now. Know where you stand first and then try to stand where others are standing. It is a realization that we all stand on different levels with different capacity, taste and temperaments. We may look upon something and judge it a good or bad without taking the time to understand that each person has his or her own stand (perspective) in life. Everyone interrupts the world from their own point of view.

Sit in prosperous pose   Ommmmm

Meditation

Understanding comes to those who realize their true self. Realization of their true self comes to those who have gained understanding.

This takes work – that’s karma – let’s get started

END: Understanding means to be able to detach and observe both the seer (self) and what is seen for what it really is – simply opportunities to work your karma so your life works for you. When we can see and understand a passion within ourselves and apart from ourselves, we understand the true nature of life. Detached you are not affected by anything, but simply become the witness to all of life and it is here you gain total understanding of yourself and the meaning and purpose of life – work your karma so your life works for you. Detach but never be indifferent.

EGO: is the part of you that acts in self preserving ways without a clear understanding that we all have our own stand in life. One is not better or worse than the other. We are not here to superimpose our stand on the world, nor to save the world, but to work out karma so that we might first gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and then a deeper understanding of life. When we, as the seer, understand the true nature of what is seen we understand everything. This requires surrendering the ego to the soul. Here Understanding comes to those who realize their true self. Realization of their true self comes to those who have gained understanding. This takes work – that’s karma
